LJUBLJANA/ZAGREB, May 6 (Hina) - Slovenia will insist on the initialled draft border agreement with Croatia, Slovene Secretary of State with the Foreign Ministry Iztok Simoniti told a Slovene television station on Monday evening.#L# "We expect the same from Croatia," the Slovene official said, confirming previous statements by Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel according to which Slovenia considers negotiations on border with Croatia completed. Simoniti said this commenting on a newest draft report made by the European parliament on Slovenia, which focuses on the possibility of arbitration regarding the solution for the Croatia-Slovenia border agreement, should the two country fail to reach a bilateral solution on this matter. Last week Slovenia's Foreign Ministry said that it was "surprised" at the news that Croatia would intervene in relation to an amendment by an Italian representative to the European Parliament Dimitrij Volcic who suggested in the report on Slovenia that the possibility of international arbitration with regard to resolving contentious matters related to the border between Slovenia and Croatia should be "deleted". The Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Croatia had not changed its attitude regarding the agreement with Slovenia on the common state border, adding, however, it would not renounce the possibility of resolving the issue via arbitration if the two sides do not manage to come to a direct agreement. However, that does not mean that Croatia is rejecting the final possibility of possible international arbitration to resolve any conflicts, the statement says, adding that Croatia will resort to arbitration if an agreement cannot be reached through direct negotiation between the two sides.
