Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday. #L#
Croatia maintains that membership in the Council of Europe is the
best contribution to the development and bolstering of democracy in
each country, the establishment of bilateral relations at all
levels as well as lasting peace and stability in the region, read
the statement.
The admission will require Bosnia and Herzegovina to meet numerous
commitments, particularly the implementation of a Constitutional
Court decision on the equality of Bosnia's three constituent
peoples throughout the country, the implementation of the Dayton
peace accord, an effective cooperation with the Hague war crimes
tribunal, and the return of the displaced and refugees, said the
statement.
In light of this, Croatia expects that Bosnian Croats, as a
constituent people, will enjoy all rights and fully participate in
the development of their homeland as a democratic and prosperous
country, for which Council of Europe membership offers a good
foundation, the statement concluded.
