Montenegro a special agreement on a solution to the border issue
between Croatia and Montenegro.#L#
The Foreign Ministry did not offer Montenegro any special agreement
to resolve the border issue between Croatia and Montenegro", the
government's public relations office said in a statement.
The government notes that a statement made by Deputy Prime Minister
Slavko Linic, "was incorrectly interpreted", and that during
discussions with Montenegrin representatives, he in fact requested
a constructive contribution by Montenegro with regard to talks on
Prevlaka being held by Croatian and Yugoslav diplomatic circles.
The press release reminds that a joint statement by the Yugoslav and
Croatian Foreign Ministers signed in New York on November 11th and
an exchange of notes on the appointment of members, set up an Inter-
State Diplomatic Commission for the Identification - Detemination
of the Border and preparations of an agreement on the state border
between Croatia and Yugoslavia.
"Seeing that to date, the International Diplomatic Commission did
not include representatives from Montenegro, Croatia believes that
following the signing of an agreement of the starting point to
restructure relations between Serbia and Montenegro, the
International Diplomatic Commission should include
representatives from Montenegro who would have the mandate to
conduct negotiations on the identification - determination of the
land border between the Republic of Croatia and Montenegro as well
as on the sea which has been announced by the Montenegrin side", the
Foreign Ministry's statement says.
The statement says that the Commission has already begun working
and two meetings have already been conducted where a Protocol on the
Principles for the Identification - Determination of the Border
have been harmonised and initialled as have preparations for an
Agreement on the State Border between the Republic of Croatia and
Yugoslavia along its Entire Length on Land and the Sea.
