Mesic reiterated that the Monterrey conference was being held at
the very last moment. He said that unequal development and
divisions between rich and poor are threatening everyone.
"A development process which will be to the benefit of both, rich
and poor, must take place," the Croatian president said.
He said that the globalisation of becoming richer and poorer should
be replaced with the development globalisation.
On the last day of the summit, Friday, George W. Bush, Jacques
Chirac and the High Representative of the European Union are
expected to speak.
The Croatian president should meet UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan
to discuss the end of the UN Mission of Observers on Prevlaka.
The UN development financing conference will end on Friday evening,
when the Monterrey Agreement should be adopted.
