Madl reiterated his country's support for Croatia's short-term and long-term aspirations to join European associations. Speaking about bilateral relations, the Hungarian president accentuated economic cooperation, particularly on infrastructure. Hungary's interests are road connections, including highways to Ploce Harbour and Rijeka, so it could use the harbours. Hungary also wants to construct new railroads and modernise existing ones, said Madl. He announced a cultural cooperation agreement with Croatia and expressed satisfaction that Croatia accepted the Status Law, Hungary's attempt to improve the status of the Hungarian minority in neighbouring countries.
