OSCE CLAIMS GENERAL ELECTION IN BOSNIA WILL BE HELD IN OCTOBER

MOSTAR, Feb 14 (Hina) - The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Mission to Bosnia-Herzegovina has dismissed media speculations that the general election in the country, scheduled for October this year, would be postponed. The election will definitely be held on October 5, the head of the OSCE Office in Mostar, Thomas Timberman, told reporters on Thursday, commenting on speculations about the upcoming vote. He warned that precautions would be taken to eliminate the possibility of war crimes suspects being put up as candidates. The October vote would be the first one organised by Bosnian state institutions alone, without the patronage of the international community, however, it has been speculated increasingly that they will not be held due to a lack of funds.(hina) sb rml
