BELGRADE, Feb 13 (Hina) - Although he is preparing his defence, the
former chief-of-staff of the Yugoslav Army, Dragoljub Ojdanic,
indicted of war crimes in Kosovo, will not be handing himself over
to the Hague-based international war crimes tribunal.
Ojdanic was Yugoslav army chief-of-staff in 1999.
He told Belgrade's daily "Glas javnosti" that he did not feel
guilty, and said that if "possibly I am guilty for something",
domestic courts should judge on that.
He confirmed that he had spoken to the military prosecution and
court and expressed readiness to answer, but he got back the answer
that they were not competent for his case, since he was retired.
Jovica Stanisic, a former head of the Serbian State Security
Service, also dismissed rumours that he was going to volunteer for
The Hague. On the first day of the trial against former Yugoslav
president Slobodan Milosevic, Stanisic was fingered as Milosevic's
close associate in charge of arming Serbs in Croatia and Bosnia.
Stanisic refused to answer the Beta news agency whether he had had
any contact with representatives of the Hague tribunal.
