ZAGREB, Jan 17 (Hina) - Croatian First Deputy Prime Minister Goran
Granic on Thursday evening met representatives of Kutina's
Petrokemija mineral fertiliser factory, informing them about the
government's short- and long-term solutions to the problem of
supplying the factory with, the government's public relations
office said.
A new balance of energy supply and consumption will be drafted
urgently, in keeping with new energy laws, while power producers
will be instructed to draw up development plans and power
infrastructure construction programmes. Also to be defined is a
tariff system and a model of regulating gas prices, the office
said.
The Economy Ministry, in cooperation with the Croatian Oil Industry
(INA) and the Croatian Power Industry (HEP), will be following
daily developments in the gas supply system and formulate
conditions for re-starting production at Petrokemija by February 4
at the latest.
In doing so, the security of the power production system will be
taken into account and adequate measures to ensure it taken.
On the basis of Croatia's balance of demand for all types of mineral
fertilisers, the Economy Ministry and the Ministry of Agriculture
and Forestry will be following the situation in mineral fertiliser
supply on the domestic market, and, acting in line with a regulation
on goods whose export and import requires permits, provide the
necessary permits for the import of mineral fertilisers to prevent
their shortage should Petrokemija fail to meet domestic demand.
Granic announced the drawing up of a report on the responsibility of
the factory's management and supervisory board for the factory
being overhauled at the time when there was enough gas in the supply
system instead of during winter, when gas consumption is increased
due to low temperatures. He also stressed the workers would not pay
for the discontinuation of production because all other gas
consumers benefited from the stoppage, the office said.
