PETROKEMIJA WITHOUT GAS UNTIL WEATHER GETS WARMER

ZAGREB, Jan 14 (Hina) - The producer of mineral fertilisers from Kutina, Petrokemija, will not be able to work, namely it will not receive necessary amounts of gas for the production until the weather gets warmer, therefore the import of artificial fertilisers will be allowed for the spring sowing in order to prevent their possible shortage, Economy Minister Goranko Fizulic said Monday after meeting representatives of Croatia's oil company INA, the Croatian power supply company (HEP), Petrokemija and great gas consumers. Petrokemija stopped producing artificial fertilisers as INA, due to low temperatures, stopped the delivery of gas on December 10 last year, in accordance with the agreement with Petrokemija. Petrokemija's losses in production at the moment amount to 180 million kuna. Fizulic said the exact statement on artificial fertilisers, which will show the effect of Petrokemija's period of inactivity on the spring sowing, would be made sometime this week. He will, therefore, approve the import of artificial fertlisers to prevent possible shortage. Petrokemija's workers' committee in charge of preventing the closure of the company at today's news conference announced
