a MOSTAR, Dec 31 (Hina) - The international community's High Representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Paddy Ashdown, on Wednesday made a decree on the enactment of a law on the supply of electricity and thus made it possible for the aluminium plant in the southern city of Mostar to be provided with power and continue operating.#L# The law, which came into effect on Wednesday, stipulates that power supply companies cannot export electricity unless they previously ensure sufficient provisions of power for other companies in the country. The text of the law was forwarded to the Prime Minister of the Croat-Muslim Federation, Ahmet Hadzipasic and the competent minister in this Bosnian entity, Izet Zigic. The Briton wrote to them that he had had to impose his decision after local authorities failed to settle the issue and after he saw that the 'Aluminij' plant would have to stop operating if sufficient supplies of power could not be secured. Ashdown went on to say that he had no alternative if he wanted to prevent a serious economic crisis in the country and save the reputation of Bosnia-Herzegovina among possible foreign investors.
