All Sarajevo media cited on Friday a Steering Board statement
applauding Ashdown's agreement to the extension of his term.
Ashdown's first deputy, U.S. diplomat Donald Hays, should remain at
his post for another year.
The Briton Ashdown succeeded Austria's Wolfgang Petritsch as the
high representative in Bosnia in May 2002. If he stays in Bosnia
until 27 May 2005, as envisaged, he will be the official who has
remained at this post the longest.
