ZAGREB, Dec 29 (Hina) - Taking over his office on Monday, Croatia's new Minister of the Sea, Tourism, Transport and Development Bozidar Kalmeta said that he would continue all the good projects of his predecessor.#L# Taking over his office from the former Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Communications, Roland Zuvanic, Kalmeta said he would resume good projects, including the construction of highways, the restructuring of Croatian Railways, and the liberalisation of the telecommunications market. Kalmeta said his first task was the organisation of a new ministry which would be in charge of the tasks from within the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Communications, the Ministry of Tourism, and part of the Ministry of Public Works, Reconstruction and Construction. He said he would appoint three state secretaries to be in charge of the tasks from within the jurisdiction of the three former ministries. He said that concrete names would be known after consultations, to take place this week. Croatian Highways and Croatian Roads will most probably be merged into one company, Kalmeta said, adding that the reason for this was to stop projects in Croatian Roads from lagging behind Croatian Highways projects. Asked how he would improve the promotion of Croatia as a maritime country, Kalmeta said he would appoint a state secretary for the sea. Asked about possible lay-offs in the new ministry, Kalmeta announced job classification and voiced hope that there would not be many non-assigned employees as well as that all such employees should be provided for.
