CROATIAN PREMIER DESIGNATE INTRODUCES 14 NEW MINISTERS

ZAGREB, Dec 21 (Hina) - The Premier Designate Ivo Sanader on Sunday presented plans for his Cabinet and introduced his candidates for posts in the new government which will consist of 14 ministries.
ZAGREB, Dec 21 (Hina) - The Premier Designate Ivo Sanader on Sunday presented plans for his Cabinet and introduced his candidates for posts in the new government which will consist of 14 ministries.#L# According to the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) leader's nominations, that should be confirmed by the parliament, Ivan Suker (HDZ) will be Finance Minister, Berislav Roncevic (HDZ) Defence Minister, Miomir Zuzul (HDZ) Foreign Minister and Marijan Mlinaric (HDZ) will Hold the office of Interior Minister. The Justice Ministry will be led by Vesna Skare-Ozbolt from the Democratic Centre (DC), and the Ministry of Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship by Branko Vukelic (HDZ). Bozidar Kalmeta (HDZ) will be at the helm of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport, Development and Tourism. Petar Cobankovic (HDZ) will be new Agriculture Minister and Marina Matulovic Dropulic (HDZ) will lead the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Zoning and Construction. Andrija Hebrang (HDZ) is nominated for the post of Health Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. Another Deputy Prime Minister will be Jadranka Kosor (HDZ) who will also hold the post of Minister of Family, War Veterans' Affairs and Inter-Generation Solidarity. Dragan Primorac, a non-partisan candidate, is nominated for the post of Minister of Science, Education and Sport. Bozo Biskupic (HDZ) and Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic (HDZ will be Ministers of Culture and European Integration respectively. Sanader will introduce his candidate to the parliament on Monday and Tuesday when the first and second sessions of the fifth Sabor are called. On that occasion, the parliament will hold a vote of confidence in the new government. Sanader told reporters on Sunday that Vladimir Seks would be proposed for Sabor President, while another two HDZ representatives, Luka Bebic and Darko Milinovic, would be proposed to fill posts of two vice-presidents. Another three vice-presidents of the parliament are to be elected from the ranks of the opposition. Sanader also announced that the first session of the new government would be very likely held on 5 January. The reduction of the current 22-percent Value Added Tax would be put on the agenda of that session, he told reporters. According to some announcements, the HDZ proposes the 20-percent VAT. (Hina)
