MOSCOW, Dec 15 (Hina) - Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Stjepan Mesic of Croatia said during their talks in the Kremlin on Monday that they were satisfied with the way in which relations between their countries were developing and expressed hope for increased economic cooperation. #L# At the beginning of the talks, which were open to the press, Mesic said there were no unresolved political issues between Croatia and Russia, and that the two countries had nearly identical views on most issues relating to Europe and the world. Mesic put forward a proposal for Russia to be a partner country at next year's international trade fair in Zagreb to further strengthen economic ties. "We have every reason for cooperation and we must not miss any opportunity. Russia is a great power and it is a privilege to us to cooperate with Russia," Mesic said when addressing the Russian president. Putin said that relations with Croatia were developing well, especially in the economic sector. He said that of all countries of the former Yugoslavia Croatia occupied first place in trade with Russia. Putin added that both countries should make efforts in order for their commodity exchange to reach the desired mark of one billion dollars a year. The two presidents then continued talks behind closed doors and gave no statements to the press afterwards. In a statement issued before the meeting, the Kremlin said that the two presidents would also discuss the implementation of the strategic Druzba Adria project. (hina) vm sb
