MOSCOW, Dec 14 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic told Croatian and Russian reporters upon arriving in Moscow on Sunday evening that there were no open issues between Croatia and Russia, and that the two countries wanted to
strengthen cooperation in all areas, especially in the economic sector.

Mesic is due to meet his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on
Monday evening for talks on economic cooperation between the two
countries, the situation in the region and the current political
situation in the world.
Asked if they would also discuss the Druzba Adria project, Mesic
said that this was possible because it was a major project that
needed to be examined from all aspects.
Commenting on a statement by the environmental organisation "Eko
Kvarner", which expressed hope that Mesic would not lobby for the
project "on the basis of the incorrect information presented to
him," the president said: "I can lobby for any project, including
this one, to be accepted only if all interests are protected,
including the interest of environmental protection."
Mesic was accompanied by Public Works and Construction Minister
Radimir Cacic, who said he was sure there were possibilities for
Croatian businesses, especially construction firms, to increase
their presence in Russia.
