"The HDZ put on a little make-up but it soon wore off, and as long as I
am president of the SDP there's no chance of forming a coalition
with such an HDZ," said Racan.
He added that after the election, if necessary, he would discuss
forming a coalition with all those who were "on the road of
Croatia's development, like the SDP".
Asked to comment on Split Polytechnic's announcement of a strike in
Zagreb on the 22nd, media blackout day, Racan said it proved that
the strike committee did not care about the Polytechnic but about
politics.
"They couldn't have been clearer by choosing that date," he said,
adding that "the Polytechnic students mustn't be victims". "Here we
have a faction and a strike committee who have been manipulated
with, but I advocate that they be enrolled at (Split) University to
resume their studies like everyone else."
