ZAGREB, Dec 5 (Hina) - Zagreb's Municipal Court has ruled that the Croatian government must give the lawyers of Ante Gotovina, indicted by the Hague war crimes tribunal, part of the documentation which is important for the defence within three days of receiving the ruling, Vecernji list daily says in the issue of Saturday.
#L# The court sent the ruling today, and the parties involved are entitled to lodge a complaint within three days of receiving it. Complaints, however, do not postpone the execution of the ruling. By making this partial ruling, the court prohibits the government from carrying out an unlawful act, namely refusing the defence team's requests to be given the documents the government has already forwarded to the Hague tribunal, the daily says. It adds that the government is obliged to hand-over verified copies of 77 documents dated from 1 to 19 September 1995 as well as documents referring to active officers, the organisation, rules of conduct and discipline in the Armed Forces, orders, reports, and notes on Operation Storm, military units' war-time logs, Interior Ministry documents, and documents referring to persons whose bodies were buried at Knin's cemetery, alongside data on the identification of exhumed bodies. The number of documents from the second group has not been but can be determined, according to the court. Proceedings will resume due to the defence team's extended request for access to 129 more documents, including Gotovina's orders and reports from the time of the 1995 Operation Storm. (hina) ha
