CROATIAN-SLOVENE BORDER COMMISSION MEETS

ILIRSKA BISTRICA, Nov 27 (Hina) - The current regime of economic fishing in northern Adriatic's Piran Bay stays in force until the end of March, the Croatian-Slovene commission in charge of the implementation of a border cooperation agreement between the two countries concluded at its 11th meeting in Ilirska Bistrica on Thursday.
ILIRSKA BISTRICA, Nov 27 (Hina) - The current regime of economic fishing in northern Adriatic's Piran Bay stays in force until the end of March, the Croatian-Slovene commission in charge of the implementation of a border cooperation agreement between the two countries concluded at its 11th meeting in Ilirska Bistrica on Thursday. #L# It is still not clear what the fishing regime in Piran Bay will be like after May 1, when Slovenia enters the European Union and a new arrangement will likely have to be made, the Croatian representative on the commission, Olga Kresovic-Rogulja, said after the four-hour meeting. Slovenia has said at the meeting that in the future, the EU will be Croatia's interlocutor with regard to economic fishing in Piran Bay. Today the Croatian-Slovene commission also discussed models of future joint tourist zones in border areas and border crossing in those zones. (hina) ha sb
