ZAGREB, Nov 24 (Hina) - According to the latest unofficial results of Croatian parliamentary elections, released by the State Electoral Commission at 0200 hours Monday, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) still leads in eight of ten
constituencies. According to unofficial projections, the HDZ should have 62 seats in parliament, while the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its coalition partners (Istrian Democratic Assembly, Libra, Liberal Party), which are leading in only two constituencies, should have 43 seats.
ZAGREB, Nov 24 (Hina) - According to the latest unofficial results
of Croatian parliamentary elections, released by the State
Electoral Commission at 0200 hours Monday, the Croatian Democratic
Union (HDZ) still leads in eight of ten constituencies. According
to unofficial projections, the HDZ should have 62 seats in
parliament, while the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its
coalition partners (Istrian Democratic Assembly, Libra, Liberal
Party), which are leading in only two constituencies, should have
43 seats. #L#
Minor changes were reported with the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS)
and the Croatian People's Party (HNS), which lost one
representative each, while the coalition of the Croatian Social
Liberal Party (HSLS) and the Democratic Centre (DC) and Ivo
Loncar's Croatian Democratic Peasant Party won one seat each.
The HSLS-DC coalition should have three seats, the HSS nine and the
HNS-PGS (Primorje-Gorski Kotar Alliance) coalition 11 seats.
The Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) has won seven seats but together
with the Zagorje Democratic Party (ZDS) it will have a total of
eight representatives in parliament.
The Croatian Party of Pensioners will be represented in parliament
for the first time, having won three seats.
According to unofficial results in constituency no. 11, returns
from 21.81 percent of polling stations were processed by 0200 hours
Monday. The turnout was 19.28 percent. For the time being, the HDZ
in is the lead with 70.96 percent of the vote. The HSLS-DC coalition
has won 6.53 percent of the vote, while the HSS has won 5.4 percent
of the vote.
In constituency no. 12, which is designed for national minorities
which elected eight deputies, the Serb minority, which has the
right to three deputies, elected Vojislav Stanimirovic and Milorad
Pupovac of the Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS) and Milan
Djukic of the Serb People's Party (SNS) to represent it in
parliament.
As regards the Hungarian minority, candidate Jene Adam is in the
lead with 41.9 percent of the vote. He is followed by Denes Soja with
41.55 percent of the vote. By 02:00 hours today returns from 83.34
percent of polling stations in constituency no. 12 were processed.
According to preliminary results, the Italian minority will be
represented by Furio Radin, while the Czech and Slovak minorities
will be represented by Zdenka Cuhnil. Nikola Mak will be the deputy
of the Austrian, Bulgarian, German, Polish, Roma, Romanian,
Ruthanian, Russian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vlach and Jewish
minorities, while Semso Tankovic will represent the Albanian,
Bosniak, Montenegrin, Macedonian and Slovene minorities.
According to the latest information from the State Electoral
Commission and unofficial calculations, some 84 percent of returns
were processed by 02:00 hours.
Unofficial reports say that the turnout at polling stations in 10
constituencies was almost 66 percent.
