"The Republic of Croatia, interested in the stability of Serbia and
Montenegro and the development of good neighbourly relations,
followed the third consecutive election for the president of Serbia
with due attention.
"We accepted its failure with regret, but are following the newly-
arisen situation with great interest," the statement said.
"We are of the view that the insufficient voter turnout and the
results achieved by individual candidates show the need for a more
effective involvement of democratic political forces, which is
particularly important prior to early parliamentary elections in
Serbia," the statement said.
