Speaking in Pula on Sunday evening, Kajin said the electorate had
again sent a clear message as to what kind of policy Istria expected
from those who would form the new government.
However, he voiced concern over unofficial results in other parts
of the country.
"Istria and Rijeka have responded splendidly, but if election
results in other parts of the country remain the same, that could be
fatal for Croatia, as I don't know how the HDZ, the HSP and some
other ultra-nationalists will rule," Kajin said. He added that if
such a government was formed, it would fall apart in a year's time,
which would have grave consequences.
The IDS leader and fifth candidate on the coalition list, Ivan
Jakovcic, said the IDS was very satisfied with results in
constituency no. 8 and that it had given a big contribution to the
coalition's success. Commenting on preliminary results in other
parts of Croatia, Jakovcic said that Croatia was undoubtedly
entering a very uncertain period.
"Anyone governing Croatia will have to bear in mind the political
stability that Istria has again demonstrated in elections,"
Jakovcic said.
