Among them was independent candidate Ljubo Cesic, who presented the
platform of his list of candidates in constituency no. 11, which is
designed for the expatriate community.
Cesic said the aim of his programme was to consolidate and integrate
the Croatian people on the basis of the doctrine of the late
president Franjo Tudjman.
Cesic said that his list featured a large number of war veterans
promoting patriotism, Christian values and the protection of vital
Croatian national interests in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Presenting the candidates on the list, Cesic said that none of them
were atheist or supported same-sex unions. He added that they were
all "for Christ and against the Communists".
Valter Drandic of the Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS) said that
his party supported further decentralisation of Croatia and giving
more powers to regional and local self-government units. The IDS
will also advocate a Croatia founded on the values of antifascism,
he said.
The IDS is running in constituency no. 8 in a coalition with the
Social Democratic Party (SDP).
