ZAGREB, Nov 12 (Hina) - The Croatian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday
proposed that the number of polling stations in Serbia and
Montenegro for the out-of-country vote in the upcoming
parliamentary elections in Croatia be doubled in relation to the
2000 elections. #L#
The ministry has proposed that the State Electoral Commission open
six polling stations at four locations - two in Belgrade (in the
Croatian embassy and consulate) and two each in the consulates in
Subotica and Kotor.
The ministry believes that more polling stations meet
international standards because more voters can take part in the
voting process without the voting process and safety requirements
being jeopardised, the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry believes that the increased number of polling stations
will contribute to making the upcoming elections more successful
than the past ones with regard to the voter turnout and the
efficiency of the election process, the statement said.
At the 2000 elections, three polling stations were opened in Serbia
and Montenegro (in Belgrade, Kotor and Subotica), and 1,950 voters
took part in them.
