At a closed session on Friday the government granted the ministry
funds so that it could pay back the difference in scholarship fees
if the universities fail to do so.
Some 20 percent of overpaid scholarship fees is still to be paid
back, Flego said, adding that around five million kuna would be
needed to make these remaining payments.
Minister Flego made the decision to increase scholarship fees for
first year students by 60 percent in June this year.
Following protests by students, as well as trade unions, non-
government organisations and political parties, the government
revoked the decision in September, stating that students would be
reimbursed.
