in the 23 November parliamentary elections continued presenting
their platforms on Croatian Television (HTV) on Sunday. #L#
Presenting his party's platform, Serb People's Party (SNS) leader
Milan Djukic called on the Serb minority to vote for the SNS, which
he said was the only party that could guarantee safety and freedom
for the Serb minority.
The party's goals include property restitution, equal right to
work, consistent application of the Amnesty Law, and the
integration of Serbs into civil society, so that they could have
equal rights and decide for themselves about their future.
Speaking about the current position of Croatian Serbs, Djukic said
the Serb minority was still discriminated against by the
authorities because nothing was done to enable them to reclaim
their property and integrate into society.
The candidate of the Alliance of Ruthanians and Ukrainians,
Gabrijel Takac, also advocated protection of minority rights.
Presenting the platform of the Croatian Democratic Forum (HDD),
Josip Bucan advocated decentralisation of authority. The Croatian
Civic and Peasant Party (HGSS) and independent candidate Damir
Pavlek presented their programmes on national television as well.
Speaking about his party's platform, Liberal Party (LS) president
Ivo Banac called on voters to give the current government another
mandate so it could complete the reforms it had started.
Commenting on the ruling coalition's achievements, Banac said they
included a stable five percent growth rate, an increase in
employment, and lawsuits filed in 20,000 cases of white-collar
crime, committed during the rule of the Croatian Democratic Union.
The current government has reduced the profit tax rate, increased
pensions and paid back six of the 24 pension allowances which the
pensioners were denied by the former government, Banac said.
He recalled that the ruling coalition had kick-started a series of
reforms which he said would not be completed if the HDZ returned to
power.
Sead Hasanovic Braco, the candidate of the Vladimir Bebic - Third
Croatian Bloc party for the Romany representative, and several
independent candidates also presented their programmes.
