"We are the only political force that can organise Serbs in Croatia
and guarantee their cultural and national identity," he said.
The SDSS advocates liberalism and democracy as well as national
identity, he added. "We are a national party but not a nationalist
one. We want to preserve the rights minorities have acquired as well
as their identity."
The People's Democratic Action too presented its platform, which is
based on the family as the foundation of the community and the woman
as the pillar of the family and society.
Josip Kokic, who heads an independent slate for constituency no. 5,
said that if he was elected to parliament he would advocate the
development of Vukovar and eastern Slavonia, which he said every
previous government neglected.
He said the development of Vukovar, which sustained massive
destruction during the 1990s war, would be based on the
international community's raising funds for the revival of the
economy.
Bandi Kucera, independent candidate for the Hungarian minority,
presented his platform too, as did Djula Rusinovic-Sunara, another
independent candidate, who said that only independent candidates,
unburdened by party discipline, as well as experts could ensure
progress.
