The leader of the Socialist Labour Party (SRP), Stipe Suvar, said
his party's platform was based on the new socialist system of the
21st century, which opposed uncontrolled capitalism and
globalisation.
"We do not want the socialism of underdevelopment which reigned in
this region, but the socialism which is already knocking on the
doors of Europe and the world in the 21st century, and which will
result from the breakdown of capitalism and globalisation," said
Suvar, whose party is running in ten constituencies.
The SRP platform includes as many as nine types of ownership,
including social ownership, which is based on self-government and
labour decision-making, which already exists in the world,
particularly in the United States, he said.
Suvar criticised the ruling coalition for failing to do away with
"the grave legacy of Tudjmanism as Croatia today is still marked by
xenophobia, hatred and violence".
Suvar believes that the state is discriminating against national
minorities, especially the Serbs, who he says are discriminated
against in their efforts to return to their pre-war homes and claim
back their property.
The SRP expects to win several seats in parliament.
