Under the Law on the Election of Members of the Croatian Parliament,
the commission will be chaired by virtue of office by the president
of the Academy of Arts and Sciences, Ivo Padovan.
The Constitutional Court appointed commission members at the
proposal of parliamentary parties, with three members proposed by a
majority party or coalition and three by opposition parties.
Members of the ethic commission must be prominent public figures
who do not stand in elections and who are not members of political
parties.
Under the law, the ethic commission is a non-party body promoting
ethical and democratic principles in the election process.
