HSLS LEADER CONDEMNS INCIDENT IN IMOTSKI

SOLIN, Nov 10 (Hina) - The Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) leader, Drazen Budisa, who is the first candidate on the slate which his party in coalition with the Democratic Centre nominated for constituency No. 10, has condemned Sunday's attack on Social Democratic (SDP) candidates in the southern town of Imotski, when one man threw eggs at Slavko Linic and Marin Jurjevic, candidates of the SDP-Libra-Liberal Party coalition in the said constituency. #L# This act of violence levelled against political rivals casts a shadow on the election, Budisa told a news conference in Solin (outside Split) on Monday. This also affects the level of a democratic atmosphere which nobody wants, the HSLS leader said. Budisa also added that he condemned statements such as that casting a vote for some party means a vote for thieves or that failure to vote for one political option means state treason. Those who utter such words must be aware that they are responsible for their words and conduct and that they contribute to an atmosphere marked by inflammatory speeches. The HSLS and the DC are in favour of tolerance and dialogue, and respect for political opponents, but we shall not restrain from criticising them, Budisa said. (hina) ms sb
