During talks with the chairman of the club of European Popular Party
members of the European Parliament, Gerd Poettering, Sanader
stressed that one of the key points of his party's platform was
Croatia's entry into the European Union.
Sanader also met Doric Pack, a member of the European Parliament and
president of the Committee for Southeastern Europe.
In the afternoon, the HDZ leader co-chaired a session of the
European Popular Party club in the European Parliament alongside
European Union chairman Silvio Berlusconi and Poettering.
Announcing Sanader's speech, Poettering said that "it is quite
certain that after the victory in the elections on November 23,
Sanader will soon address the European Parliament as the new
Croatian prime minister," the statement said.
In his address to the European Popular Party session, Sanader asked
for support to Croatia's bid to join the EU in 2007, saying that
Croatia would be capable of meeting the requirements by this
deadline under the leadership of the HDZ in a new coalition
government.
