invested efforts. #L#
Cox, who gave an interview to the Croatian Television for the
flagship news broadcast on Monday evening, said he would not
personally rule out the possibility that Croatia would be ready for
joining the EU in 2007, but he reminded the country of steps it
should take in this process.
According to him, the first thing is the EU-Croatia Stabilisation
and Association Agreement (SAA) should be ratified by national
parliaments of all EU member-states, and after that a positive
decision on the status of Croatia as a candidate should be made.
In this context he stressed that the date (of the admission) was the
outcome rather than the aim of the endeavours.
Cox stressed that the door of the European Union was opened for the
entire region, but the speed of the admission of every country lay
with each of them individually.
