ZAGREB, Oct 16 (Hina) - The US Embassy in Zagreb on Thursday issued a statement saying it established a direct phone line for the War Criminals Rewards Program for information on all fugitive indictees of the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague, including general Ante Gotovina. #L# During a visit to Zagreb last week, the US special envoy for war crimes issues, Pierre-Richard Prosper, said his government had decided to offer a reward of five million dollars for credible information that may lead to Gotovina's arrest. The US Embassy subsequently explained that the reward was part of the US "Rewards for Justice" program, which refers to all runaway indictees of the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY), and not just Gotovina. The ICTY indicted Gotovina for crimes against humanity committed during and after the 1995 Croatian army-police operation "Storm" in the sector under his command. He has been on the run since the issuing of the indictment in June 2001. (hina) rml sb
