GOSPIC, Oct 9 (Hina) - Commenting on media reports about the US
government offering a reward for information on the whereabouts of
General Ante Gotovina, Croatian Interior Minister Sime Lucin has
said the police and government have not received any notification
to that effect. #L#
"General Gotovina is an international fugitive, an international
warrant has been issued for his arrest. The Croatian police and
other bodies in charge of security are in constant contact with
their colleagues abroad. Every Interpol member-country issues its
own arrest warrants and uses its own methods to locate fugitives,"
Lucin said during a regular working visit to the Lika-Senj County
police on Thursday.
He added that cooperation between the Croatian police and Interpol
had improved significantly lately.
The US Embassy in Zagreb said in a statement today that the five-
million-dollar reward which the US ambassador in charge of war
crimes issues, Pierre-Richard Prosper, had talked about in an
interview in the Jutarnji List daily was part of the US State
Department's "Reward for Justice" programme and referred to all
runaway indictees of the UN war crimes tribunal for the former
Yugoslavia and not exclusively to retired general Ante Gotovina.
