During October, the HCK will organise a number of events to present
its achievements since the establishment of the first HCK branches
in Zadar, Zagreb and Split in 1878. The events are held under the
auspices of the parliament.
The HCK has 131 societies with more than 400,000 members.
During the 1990's war, the HCK provided help to 600,000 people,
distributed more than 332 tonnes of food, and 116 tonnes of other
aid.
It provided psychological help and welfare for more than 250,000
displaced people and from 1991 to 1995 collected a million bags of
blood for medical services.
The HCK sent and received 1.5 million messages for separated
families, organised 30,000 family reunions at separation lines
during the war, and helped in the release and reception of more than
7,000 prisoners of war and imprisoned civilians.
