ZAGREB, Oct 1 (Hina) - Social Democratic Party (SDP) president and Prime Minister Ivica Racan dismissed allegations from a newspaper on Wednesday that the SDP would scrap the idea of proclaiming an economic zone in the Adriatic and
offer an alternative, for example the proclamation of a fishing zone.
ZAGREB, Oct 1 (Hina) - Social Democratic Party (SDP) president and
Prime Minister Ivica Racan dismissed allegations from a newspaper
on Wednesday that the SDP would scrap the idea of proclaiming an
economic zone in the Adriatic and offer an alternative, for example
the proclamation of a fishing zone. #L#
"The SDP hasn't taken a position to that effect. The SDP will define
its stand on the economic zone following consultations with the
(ruling) coalition partners," he told reporters.
Racan announced that before the government defined its economic
zone proposal, the ruling coalition would carefully consider what
should be proposed with respect to protection of economic and
ecological interests in the Adriatic Sea, while seeing that it
proved to be a good move in the long term.
