ZAGREB, Sept 8 (Hina) - The vice president of the opposition
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) said on Monday it was absurd that
the date of parliamentary elections was still unknown although a
fierce campaign had already begun. #L#
Leading the way in this campaign is the president of the Social
Democrats (SDP), Prime Minister Ivica Racan, who has access to all
media, notably national television, Jadranka Kosor told
reporters.
She called for setting the election day, saying that keeping it a
mystery was a tactic to exhaust the opposition and then perhaps call
elections in the spring.
Kosor said Racan's announcement that the SDP was starting the
election campaign corroborated the HDZ's claims that elections in
Zagreb and the parliamentary ballot would be called at the same
time.
As chair of the HDZ commission for the City of Zagreb, she said her
party would respond by initiating projects aimed at improving
citizens' lives, such as a transporation study for the capital
which was presented today.
