SPLIT, Sept 15 (Hina) - The tasks and objectives of NATO's Joint Endeavour military exercise, the main part of which will be held in the southern Adriatic on Friday, were outlined in Split on Monday. #L# Participating in the exercise are troops from Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, Latvia, Romania, Slovenia, Albania, Russia, Ukraine, Egypt, Algeria, and Croatia -- this year's host, participating with two ships and one aircraft. More than 500 people, 10 ships and five aircraft will participate in the exercise, which is to be conducted under the direct command of Vice Admiral Ferdinando Sanfelice di Monteforte, Commander Allied Naval Forces Southern Europe, who will arrive in Split. The main part is due to take place in the channel between the islands of Hvar and Brac on Sept. 19, consisting of a search and rescue exercise at sea as well as anti-mine operations. The aim is to improve communication and demonstrate NATO's capability to fully integrate multinational troops in a joint operation, as well as to fulfil NATO's priority task -- maintaining peace through dialogue and cooperation.
