VUKOVAR HDZ BRANCH DECRIES DESECRATION OF WAR VICTIMS MONUMENT

VUKOVAR, Aug 26 (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) branch in Vukovar on Tuesday vehemently condemned today's desecration of a cross erected in the town's centre in memory of all victims of the Homeland War. #L# The head of the party's branch, Petar Mlinaric, said the increasing frequency of cases of desecration of Homeland War monuments in Vukovar was the result of inefficiency and cover-ups by competent bodies. After the defilement of a monument to Vukovar war hero Blago Zadro, Serb nationalist graffiti and today's incident, Mlinaric asked whether an attack on the memorial cemetery of Homeland War victims in Vukovar was to follow. Today's act of vandalism was also decried by the president of the Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS), Branko Sekuljica. (hina) lml
