WASHINGTON, Aug 22 (Hina) - The National Federation of Croatian
Americans (NFCA) wrote a letter to the US State Department on Friday
expressing concern over disturbing anti-Croatian incidents in
Croatia provoked by Serbs and the Serb occupation of parts of
Croatian territory on the left bank of the Danube river. #L#
It urged the US government to stop the activities of Serb leaders in
Croatia and exert pressure on Serbia to give back the Croatian
territory.
The letter, signed by NFCA president John Kraljic, cited Croatian
media reports of Serb nationalist graffiti in the village of
Jagodnjak near the town of Beli Manastir in eastern Croatia and the
Petrova Gora memorial park, the damaging of a Croatian flag on a
military museum near Karlovac, and the desecration of a monument to
a Croatian war hero in Vukovar.
The NFCA is a Washington-based umbrella organisation of about 20
groups of Croatian Americans representing about 130,000 members.
