Gospic on Monday. #L#
Speaking about the firefighting system in the country, he said that
it was in need of modernisation.
Commenting on relations between Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, he
said that they should be completely redefined and that the port of
Ploce could be opened towards Bosnia exclusively on the commercial
basis.
As regards the possible proclamation of an economic zone in the
Adriatic, Djapic said that this "is Croatia's sovereign right which
is based on international law and the convention on the law of the
sea of 1982, which is why Croatia does not need the political or
legal consent of any country it borders with".
Djapic also addressed the problem of Croatia's external debt.
Recalling that the debt had doubled since the current ruling
coalition's coming to power in 2000, Djapic said that Croatia was
facing bankruptcy and his party expected parliament to be dissolved
and elections called for November at the latest.
