BELGRADE, Aug 20 (Hina) - Serbia's special prosecutor has finalised an indictment against 45 persons suspected of involvement in the March 12 assassination of prime minister Zoran Djindjic, organised crime, 14 killings, three
abductions and other serious crimes, the Glas Javnosti daily reported on Wednesday.
BELGRADE, Aug 20 (Hina) - Serbia's special prosecutor has finalised
an indictment against 45 persons suspected of involvement in the
March 12 assassination of prime minister Zoran Djindjic, organised
crime, 14 killings, three abductions and other serious crimes, the
Glas Javnosti daily reported on Wednesday. #L#
Quoting sources close to investigators, the paper said that the
indictment was expected to be forwarded within the next three days
to the special department of the Belgrade District Court for
consideration, after which it would be served on the suspects and
their defence attorneys.
The daily says that the suspects include Zvezdan Jovanovic, who
allegedly murdered the prime minister, Milorad Lukovic aka Legija,
former commander of a special purposes unit known as the Red Berets,
who is still at large, Radical Party leader Vojislav Seselj,
currently in the custody of the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague,
Ljubisa Buha aka Cume, former member of the so-called Zemun Clan and
a number of other members of this criminal gang.
A total of 27 suspects are in custody, while arrest warrants have
been issued for another 17.
