Croatian citizens Ivan Skender, Milan Novak and Zdravko Novak, and
Marko Musteric, a citizen of the Netherlands, were arrested at 1925
hours on August 14 in the town of St. Veit am Vogau, about 20km from
the Spielfeld border crossing with Slovenia.
Skender and his group were captured thanks to coordinated action by
Austrian and Croatian police against drug dealers and smugglers. As
part of this operation, Croatian police arrested another member of
the group, Vladimir Mikulic, in Zagreb on the same day. Mikulic, who
worked in a construction company near Graz, acted as a contact for
the group.
On August 15, Austrian police arrested two Austrian nationals, one
of whom acted as a contact for the sale of smuggled drugs, while the
other one had been buying large amounts of cocaine for some time.
