PM REACTS TO STATEMENTS BY CROATIAN SERB OFFICIALS

ZAGREB, Aug 13 (Hina) - "I am shocked at the statements made by Milan Djukic, president of the Serb People's party, and incorrect and malicious accusations against the Croatian government," Croatian Prime Minister Ivica Racan said Wednesday reacting to Djukic's statement.
#L# Djukic on Tuesday accused the Croatian government of lying to the international community regarding the return of Serbs and the restitution of their property. He said he would forward letters about this issue to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the European Court for Human Rights in Strasbourg and all international institutions and embassies in Croatia. The culmination is the comparison of the coalition policy towards national minorities with the policy of the Independent State of Croatia (1941-1945), said Racan. The PM said such a comparison was to the detriment of everybody, adding that Croatian Serbs would benefit the least from this. "Contrary to Djukic's claims, the Croatian government is investing great efforts and funds into removing the consequences of the war, enable the return of all citizens and ensure normal life for those who wish to return," said Racan.
