The Racan-Ashdown talks revolved around the situation in Bosnia and
political and economic ties between Croatia and that country.
Commenting on his recent visit to Sarajevo, Premier Racan informed
Lord Ashdown of the issues he and his hosts in the Bosnian capital
had discussed. In this context Racan reiterated that it would be of
great importance for Bosnia that a project of the construction of
Bosnian sections of the pan-European Vc corridor be prepared well
and implemented though the international invitation for public
tenders.
Expressing support to that project and plans for the building of the
highway through the coastal town of Neum, the British diplomat
pointed to the importance of further implementation of the process
of the return of refugees and restitution of their property.
He advocated stronger engagement of Croatia and its business people
in Bosnia.
On behalf of Zlatko Tomcic, the Croatian parliament's president,
the Sabor's vice president, Zdravko Tomac, received Ashdown on
Wednesday.
At the meeting with Tomac, Ashdown voiced satisfaction with the
development of constructive relations between Croatia and Bosnia
in the last year. He was also satisfied with regional cooperation
and said he hoped the promotion of bilateral relations would
continue after the next parliamentary elections in Croatia.
