ZAGREB, July 2 (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic on Wednesday condemned a decision of the organising committee of the Vukovar war veterans' memorial youth soccer tournament to ban a 14 year-old boy from playing
because he is a Serb national.

the Vukovar war veterans' memorial youth soccer tournament to ban a
14 year-old boy from playing because he is a Serb national. #L#
Granic said Croatian Homeland War soldiers gave their lives for
Croatia because they had a vision of a democratic and European
country.
Condemning the decision, Granic said it was an incident which
should not have happened. He expressed hope that all Croatian
citizens regardless of their national or religious background
would continue to act in unity to the benefit of the Homeland's
development.
The Croatian Football Federation said today it had requested of the
organising committee to submit an urgent report on the organisation
of the tournament.
