Wednesday when asked by reporters about the government's decision to appoint Mikulicic the legal representative of the runaway general.
ZAGREB, July 2 (Hina) - Goran Mikulicic is a capable lawyer and
could represent General Ante Gotovina before the International
Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY) very successfully,
Croatian President Stjepan Mesic said on Wednesday when asked by
reporters about the government's decision to appoint Mikulicic the
legal representative of the runaway general. #L#
"Goran Mikulicic is a renowned lawyer, with a great knowledge of the
criminal law, both domestic and comparative, and I believe he can
carry out that task very successfully," Mesic said.
Commenting on Mikulicic's statement that he expected to contact
Gotovina soon, Mesic said he wished Mikulicic success.
Asked about reports that Gotovina intended to surrender in ten
days, Mesic said his information about that was based on
information from the press.
