Stanisic was arrested on March 13, a day after the assassination of
Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic, together with Franko
Simatovic aka Frenki, founder and first commander of the Serbian
interior ministry's special operations units, who is already in
custody in The Hague.
Serbia-Montenegro's national council for cooperation with the U.N.
court has decided Stanisic's and Simatovic's departure for The
Hague will be treated as voluntary surrender because indictments
against them were filed when they were already in custody and both
had stated they would voluntarily go to The Hague if accused.
Stanisic and Simatovic are charged with crimes against humanity
committed in the wars in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina from 1991
through 1995.
