ATTORNEY: SLJIVANCANIN CAN BE TRANSFERRED TO ICTY AS OF MONDAY

BELGRADE, June 29 (Hina) - The transfer of Veselin Sljivancanin to the Hague-based U.N. war crimes tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY) will be possible as of Monday afternoon, Sljivancanin's attorney Goran Petronijevic said on Sunday to TV B92, adding he was waiting for the competent authorities to serve him with a decision on the transfer of his client.
BELGRADE, June 29 (Hina) - The transfer of Veselin Sljivancanin to the Hague-based U.N. war crimes tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY) will be possible as of Monday afternoon, Sljivancanin's attorney Goran Petronijevic said on Sunday to TV B92, adding he was waiting for the competent authorities to serve him with a decision on the transfer of his client. #L# Serbia and Montenegro's minister for human and minority rights, Rasim Ljajic, signed the decision on Sljivancanin's hand-over on Friday. According to procedure, the ministry is to deliver the decision to the Belgrade District Court, the National Council for Cooperation with the ICTY and the Serbian Interior Ministry, which will set the date of the hand-over with the ICTY. Sljivancanin, who was arrested on June 12, was indicted for war crimes committed at Ovcara outside Vukovar in 1991. Former Yugoslav People's Army officers Miroslav Radic and Mile Mrksic, indicted together with Sljivancanin, had already surrendered to the ICTY. (hina) rml
