ZAGREB, June 30 (Hina) - Nothing has been done about the organisation of the Croatian Privatisation Fund and a new privatisation law, even though the coalition achieved a clear agreement about that six months ago which should have been implemented within three weeks, spokeswoman for the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) Marijana Petir said Monday.
#L# She said the party believes "the fund is not functioning, problems are generating and privatisation is on hold". Problems in privatisation and the work of the Croatian Privatisation Fund (HFP) have been criticised lately and the party president Zlatko Tomcic on Saturday requested resignations from the HFP leadership and a thorough reorganisation of the fund. HFP deputy president Kresimir Starcevic told a news conference Monday he did not plan to resign and stressed the HFP did its share of the job regarding the new law. The HFP has prepared a draft privatisation act as well as a bill on the Croatian Property Fund and has forwarded them to the Economy Ministry which should send it into further procedure, Starcevic said. Commenting on criticism that the HFP is not implementing decision by its Management Board, Starcevic said decision on some privatisation processes had to be adopted by the government. (hina) it sb
