The US has given Macedonia and other countries in Southeast Europe
until July 1 to sign the agreement, threatening to discontinue its
military assistance if they do not do so.
The EU has sent a warning to countries wishing to enter the Union to
think twice before signing the treaty. The Parliamentary Assembly
of the Council of Europe on Wednesday condemned the pressures which
Washington has been exerting in order to have the agreement
signed.
Of countries in the region, Albania, Bosnia and Rumania have signed
the deal.
